President Trump has said that if the war had continued, the entire region would have been devastated. Referring to the Iranian attack on the US base in Qatar, he said that Iran had warned us in advance and we had moved our planes and other assets from there to another location. He described the ceasefire as a message of love and prosperity for both Iran and Israel and requested that it not be violated now. In response to the powerful attacks that the US had carried out on Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran targeted US bases in Qatar and Iraq.
Pakistan took a very balanced stance and expressed concern over these attacks but also declared solidarity with Iran. Pakistan had also expressed serious concern over the US attacks on Iranian installations without naming names. On Monday, the National Security Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, comprising political and military leadership, considered the situation arising from the Iran-Israel war and urged the parties to resolve their mutual disputes through negotiations. It was also expressed that Pakistan would continue its efforts to promote peace between the parties. Pakistan’s response was in line with national interest because if the situation in the Middle East had deteriorated further, serious problems would have arisen for Pakistan, including oil supplies. This was a war that was likely to continue for years. If Israel had had the blessings of the US and Western powers, Iran could also expect the help of Russia and China in addition to Islamic countries.
A former Russian president had made it clear that Iran could get nuclear weapons from many sides. Before the attack on the US military bases, the Iranian Foreign Minister had gone to Russia, where he also took President Putin into confidence about the war situation. Iran was about to close the Strait of Hormuz, which would have paralyzed the entire global economy. Flights to the countries affected by the war had been suspended, which was causing serious financial losses. Stock markets were shrinking and oil prices were rising. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief with the end of the war. Pakistan's stock market, which had suffered a severe downturn the day before, rose by more than 6,000 points on Tuesday morning.
The Iran-Israel war has stopped, but many issues require lasting peace. Therefore, negotiations are necessary, for which no action plan has yet emerged. The most important point of humanitarian concern is the plight of the oppressed Palestinians, whom Israel is continuously massacring, and the United States is behind it. The world of humanity should think about the survival of the Palestinians on a priority basis.
